Move out Checklist for Tenants

Helping to make the process a little easier

So, your tenants are getting ready to move out. As a landlord of a rental property, this is always a good time to make sure you have proper procedures in place to make the process easy for all parties. A checklist that will hold your tenant responsible for any damages to the property and provide you with the documentation needed to justify the full or partial return of the security deposit.

Take a look at the following “Move-Out Checklist” to get a better idea of what items should be reviewed when a tenant vacates a property.

Don’t forget

Many landlords require the tenant to professionally clean the carpets once they have vacated the property. If this is the case, make sure to provide your tenant with enough time to schedule the cleaning and provide the necessary documentation to show cleaning has been completed. A quick phone call, note in the mail, or informal meeting with the tenant to discuss move out protocol may also be a wise choice to help with the process.
